    It is well known that a Duck-tack is substantially more difficult to perform on a Windsurfer than on a standard sailing craft as you are standing upon the board and must get the rig swing motion perfectly in time with your reach under the rig to grasp the wishbone on the other side. The type of board and sail shape being used also determines the ease with which the tack can be performed. It was good to see it clearly in action on screen.

    Is there some law that says all windsurfing videos must have a pounding rock music clip in it? I windsurf on flat water and enjoy the peace and tranquillity while exploring lakes. For the record, I also surfed The Gorge every summer for about 15 years so I get it. But it's not the only kind of windsurfing.

    Crucial is moment of switching the sail. In duck jibe before turn, in reverse jibe like in common jibe after.

      Hi Chris, in the video I use the rrd Easy Ride with 220 Liters, 1 meter wide, good platform, now I use a windSUP, that works also well. Sail was 4.5 and 4.7. With bigger sails it is more difficult because of the boom length. Trim the sail flat for the handling, you don't need much power. Have fun 😀

  • @ctyler67

    really awesome. can you tell me what board, or at least volume, length, width .....and sail size (4.8?). I'm moving to a lower wind area and want to really focus more on freestyle in sub 10 knot winds. Thanks!

    I like this tack, but what I don't like is how he transitions his hands, I think he should do it with one arm over the other and just 2 switches instead of 4

    Nice, I used to duck tack years ago when I windsurfed, but is this how you get into position for the newer freestyle moves but keep feet in straps?

    • @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing
      @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing 3 роки тому

      To get in the position for the new freestyle moves is a bit different. You stay on broad reach to keep planning when you switch your feet in straps.

      Max-Surf Team ok thanks. So much footage of comps doesn’t show the set up to the tricks, which is almost the hardest part. A tutorial on that would be good.

    What is different this Crave jibe with lay down jibe?

    • @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing
      @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing 3 роки тому

      At the Carve Jibe the Sail is more upright. At the Laydown Jibe you push the sail down to have more stability in the turn.

    _This will be my 4th or 5th season on the mod rocker riding 50-100 days a season.▪▪▪>__allmy.tips/Camp_Snowboard?キY__ Main reason I replace it each year is it gets beat up by rocks and stuff. Other than scratches, no fault of the board, this board holds up great. And it can do it all. I ride all mountain, staying off piste as much as possible. I'm 160lbs and ride my 153 everywhere no matter how deep it gets. The shape is great for floating pow and it has enough stability to hit big kickers or rip that line you've been second guessing. You owe it to yourself to try this ride._

    I am no expert but I'd like to say this. My gybes got much better when I started to place the back foot next to the FRONT footstrap, reaching with your body even more forward. It unweights the stern for me. I totally agree with the rest.

    This is a good tutorial, but it doesn't say anything about how and when to switch your feet. For me, that's the most difficult part of the jibe.

    • @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing
      @MaxSurfTeamLearnWindsurfing 5 років тому

      Hi David, When switch feet: If you are overpowered (like in this video) you switch your feet simultaneous to the rig flip on downwind. In normal or low wind conditions it is better to switch the feet later and surf a short moment in clew first position before flipping the rig, to get more stability. How switch feet: To initiate the Jibe you put the back foot in front of the back strap on the leeward side of the board. Look for a wide stance, feet prallel to bent both knees in the same way/direction. As you come to downwind open the sail and continue looking out of the turn. With weight on the back foot your front foot switches across the board and then the back foot can step forward between mast and front strap. Keep the weight over the new back foot, carving through the heels and pause in the clew first position or flip the rig simultaneously. Practice switching feet at the beach. Hope that helps you.

    • @tommcclelland9708
      @tommcclelland9708 4 роки тому

      What works for me... switching the feet is just walking. Everyone can do it without thinking. Don't look at your feet or even think about them at all! They will switch by themselves at the right moment.

    • @jllaforce
      @jllaforce 4 роки тому

      I would say you should switch feet the moment the back of the board passes through the wind and just before or at the same time as flipping the rig. Your back foot going into the turn should already be on the new side when you initiated the turn. All you have to do then is place your other foot behind the foot that is already over then move the second foot a bit more forward.
